About Me

Amnesty activists are part of a growing global movement taking up the challenge to protect the dignity and rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people everywhere. OUTfront, Amnesty International USA's program on LGBT human rights, and a network of Amnesty activists in 40 countries are working to defend the human rights of LGBT people around the world.

As a grassroots-based membership network, OUTfront seeks to: 1. Promote human rights standards at the international and local level that bar discrimination and protect the basic human rights of LGBT people.
2. Educate people and increase public awareness of human rights abuses based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
3. Mobilize people in the US and around the world to take action on specific cases of human rights abuses against LGBT people.
4. Works in coalition with LGBT, religious, youth and other groups to develop community-based responses to human rights issues facing the LGBT community today.
