Geto Rudi is a pseudonym wich stands for the name of Dejan Vasilevski. Geto Rudi was created in 1998 as a need of identifying the person who will talk in the Macedonian ether and will write in the Macedonian newspapers about reggae culture and Rastafarianism. The pseudonym is symbolic because the first part (Geto = Ghetto) means: the roots of the reggae music, and the second part (Rudi = Rudy) means: the rude way of life in the ghettoes in Jamaica. In 1998 Geto Rudi has started publishing articles about ska and reggae music in the students magazine, called „Studentski zbor“. Next year Geto Rudi has started the first radio show about reggae music ever, in Republic of Macedonia. The radio called „Studentsko radio“ was broadcasting this radio show. It lasted till the closing of the „Studentsko radio“, in March 2000. In the meantime, he has made his first steps as a reggae selector in café „Macho“. From May 2001 till February 2003 he writes about reggae and dub music in the monthly magazine about music, film, and other representatives of culture, called „Urban magazine“. At the same time he starts to play reggae in café „Bizar“ and that reggae parties last till 2006. From November 2001 till March 2002 he was editing and hosting the radio show called „Rasta university“ on the radio „?anal 103“. In the beginnings of 2002 he constitutes the crew „Active Rasta Selectors“ (along with Ya..Man and Rootboy). The crew has established the first reggae sound system in Republic of Macedonia. Next year they have noticeable successes, although Rootboy has left the crew. „Active Rasta Selectors“ became resident reggae selectors in the club „Cashette“, and the next season also resident in the club „Apolon“. They started to have lots of appearances on the music festivals in Republic of Macedonia. From November 2004 Geto Rudi took part in editing and hosting the radio show called „Chill selecta“, which is still running every working day from 16.00 till 17.30 h CET on the Radio „Ravel“. (www.radioravel.com.mk) In 2005 and 2006 Geto Rudi was resident reggae selector in café „Jamaica“. Geto Rudi as a part of the sound system „Active Rasta Selectors“ has appearances in several cities of Republic of Macedonia (Veles, Struga, Ohrid, Prilep, Strumica, Tetovo, Gostival, Skopje), and outside Republic of Macedonia (Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo). As a biggest achievement of Geto Rudi..s reggae selecting is the 3 hours reggae set of the after party of the concert of the reggae megastar Gentleman in Belgrade in 2006 and his reggae sets on both „Cola-Cola sound wave festival“ in 2005 (where he played along with „Natty Strike Sound System“ from Serbia) and 2006. On second „Cola-Cola sound wave festival“ in Skopje, Geto Rudi organized the reggae part and booked „Positive Reality Sound“ from Slovenia, „THC Sound System“ from Greece and „Trenchtown Rockers Sound System“ from Serbia. In 2007 and 2008 Geto Rudi is still working on the reggae field alongside with „Active Rasta Selectors“. In January 2008 he organized the appearances of El Condorsito and „Trenchtown Rockers Sound System“ in the club „Midnight“ in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Local support by „Active Rasta Selectors“ and Lion Junior.
