It all started back in 1999-2000. With Chesley on the vocals and sequencers,
Leroy on back up vocals, and Johnny on guitar and backup vocals. Our
'training' had begun. Even though each of us already had extensive music
backgrounds, our chemistry doing what WE do, started to take form.
We were called The Connection Crew back then. What ever the name though,
the result's gonna always be the same: Great island music and a good time!!
Here's a bit about the members:Mr.Chesley "Ches" Rolle is from the beautiful island of St.Croix in the U.S.V.I. He started playing "De Pan" (Steel Drum) very young and is now recognized as one of the best pan players in the world. He's also a damn good drummer who played for the popular reggae band; Democracy. As the leader and Musical arranger of the group, Chesley continues to be a special part of the local caribbean music scene; promoting our fabulous culture. Also, bringing some of that "back-home" music to those of us from the islands. Mr. Leroy "LW" Walwyn is from the lovely island of St.Kitts (where everything's a bit sweeter). He was the founder of The Connection Crew. His specialty in sound systems (PA's) and DJ-ing adds a dimension to the group that's a huge part of our success. Mr.Johnny "J-Dawg" Nieves is also from the island of St.Croix and was a founding member of the former St.Croix heavyweight (Heatwave Band) in the early 90's. together we've developed a strong freindship over the years and share a common mission: represent the caribbean as a whole; Playing everything from Kompa & Reggae to Soca & Calypso.
