Sharpening SAWDS (Sound and Word Delivery Styles) is a forward thinking and diverse hip-hop arts collective.
We deliver professional performances using the methods of hip-hop, playback and forum theatre and encompassing spoken word and poetry, lyricism and Tai Chi.
In addition we run educational workshops for young people within local communities to showcase and encourage the development of acting, microphone, rap/spoken word/poetry and performance skills.
Sharpening SAWDS is responsible for Freestyle Mondays, a freestyle hip-hop cypher which happens every Monday round the back of Contact Theatre at 8pm - all MCs, poets, beatboxers etc welcome! In association with Contact, Freestyle Mondays workshops happen every Friday with a hugely successful regular club night (under 18s welcome) featuring performances from workshop participants.
