About Me

Robert Urban is a singer/songwriter with many years and bands under his belt. He started his musical journey as a drummer at the tender age of ten and was playing in bands from the age of fifteen. He soon picked up a guitar and the world of songwriting suddenly came to life. His family and friends were the inspiration for this his first album of songs with the birth of his two children providing a vast array of experiences and emotions to draw from.
His influences range from The Beatles, The Who, The Smithereens, Mathew Sweet, John Mellancamp, Teenage Fan Club, The Hoodoo Gurus, Crouded House to name a few, through to country music greats including Buddy Miller, Dwight Yoakam and Lucinda Williams.
As well as drums, Robert completed all the vocals and rhythm guitar and co-produced the album with Michael Zammitt at Airwaves Recording Studios. The songs, written over a number of years, retell stories and events that have shaped his and his family’s lives. His strong desire to leave a legacy to his children has driven him to continue writing and create a collection of words and music for them to reflect upon in the years to come.
