About Me

The history is reiterated like so...The history is reiterated like so...Basiq started off as Swisha after his obsession with Swisher Sweet Cigars. He attended Illinois State University where he met Emcee partners Homegrown and D’monic. These three lyrical painters proceeded on to concocting an 8 track disc under the name of Ill-Noize. The album was entitled Midwest Minorities. They would end up joining the click called Fear the Future run by Skitzoe and Quietlike. Ill-noize proceeded on to make their second album entitled The Watterson Effect in late 2004. Swisha then went on to change his name to Basick due to his love of bass in music being sick. Due to disputes with Fear the Future and slow progress the group disbanded.D’monic who latter went under the name Compoze is residing in the Philippine Islands for school purposes. Homegrown is now in a different group entitled Amphibious Underground, with fellow collaboration Emcees Sammy Faze, Dj Phonetics, and MC Dimension.Basick went to debut his first solo album entitled Caramel Caiaphas in late 2005, with guest appearances from fellow Ill-Noize members and newly acquainted emcee and friend Sammy Faze. After a relocation of schools, Basick then changed his name to Basiq the Lyrical Painter (BTLP). Same sounding phonetically, however the meaning behind the name changed (obviously).BTLP's rekindling of the name and in the present-day, the name is a pun in itself explaining that the lyrical painter himself is a very basic artist, but however is an oxymoron in the same sense because his metaphorical content is quite complex.BTLP then finished his second solo album in late 2006 entitled EZ for every species. The title was chosen because singing was incorporated more so with catchier beats but the same lyrical content. Featured artists on the album were again the old Ill-noize crew, J.D., Sammy Faze, and DJ Phonetics. More people started to glance in BTLP’s direction after the album. Finally, after a reevaluating himself, he felt that he should go in an even different direction of an even more so split from the rap world and instead of hip hop, making just music. My Nostalgic Wigwam copies have been handed out, which is the name fo the new album. Featured artists were only the two from Ill-Noize. BTLP had more to say and more to translate. It has been finished and will be distributed free of charge. After graduating Columbia College with a Bachelor’s Degree, BTLP finished his album Yellow Journalism Feature in late 2008. People thought the title had to do with the complexion of his skin (and that’s what he was going for), but the title is actually about existentially glamorizing the style of news. Read up on it, reading is fun.By this summer BTLP made an alter ego friend imaginary friend named Mongoose Jones. His EP is due to be finished in the early summer. Finally, BTLP is working on Verbal Equinox; due to be finished mid-summer. Thanks for the folks who have supported my craft for so long....I hope you enjoy what I have been working over....it is my deepest and most mature album lyrically and production wise to date. Thank You for giving me a chance to work my vehicle craft I call music.
