In the beginning…
The Lucky Candidates is Marc-André Duguay (drums), Serge "Tom" Gagnon (bass), Joel Ryan (vocals and guitars) and Daniel Ryan (guitars). The idea of starting the project was hatched by Marc-André and Tom in early September 2006.
Like with many an amateur band, different influences have come together to create a rock-infused blend of styles powered by solid rhythms, catchy melodies and socially active lyrics. Even if Tom and Joel are mainly writing lyrics, The Lucky Candidates is a team project in a friendly environment in which everybody contribute.
The band is working hard trying to find the right mix of sounds, writing songs and having a good time doing it, keeping with the basic premise that “it’s only rock n roll… and I like itâ€.
