Gord Johnson
I have been playing some instrument or another since I was 4. I started with piano and convinced my father (also my teacher) to let me quit under the condition that I took up another instrument. At the age of 9 I began playing alto sax. As much as i loved that instrument it still did not allow me to fully express all the things I wanted to. At the age of 12 another change, this time to guitar. Home at last.
At the age of 17, myself and a friend founded what would become Atumz Eve, a metal band that would go on to record 2 studio demos as well as tour and gig extensively. After what has become a 2 year hiatus it is time to move forward.
Skinny Oden
Skinny Oden is a project. Not a band persa. Currently I do all the writing and arranging of the music, play the instruments and manage the recording from my home studio.
The Gimmick:
I enjoy a lot of different forms of art as you can tell from my selection of Top Friends. Included in that is writing. I've borrowed an idea from that which i call a character tree. Much like an author would spend considerable time developing a character for a book, I'm taking a similar path with the "characters" that I am playing as I write the different instruments and parts for the songs. The goal is to create a broader spectrum of sound than what would be typical of a one man band. I read about and talk to a lot of people in bands that say the magic of their band isn't that they are all a like but that they are different in a way that is compatable. I hope to be able to capture some of that and have every instrument sound as though it was played with a different personality and background of influence from the others.
The future:
In time I will have enough songs compiled to hopefully put together a complilation of sorts. The music is designed to accomodate vocals and is not intended to me instrumental. I will be looking for vocalists to contribute to different songs. Any one interested can contact me here.
