About Me

The Hughes Leisure Group began life as Grand Theft Auto in 1999. Their single ‘Cha Cha Cha’ proved popular with Radio JJJ over the summer of 2000, with the song being used in a UK feature film , and numerous documentaries and surfing films. An early HLG track, “Funky Tropicana” was renamed “Che Cool” (with a Che Gevara speech added in) and released in Europe in 2001. The group split in 2002.
After Grand Theft Auto, Anton was commissioned for TV ( Title theme from Comedy Channel’s ‘Hit and Run’, ‘Saddle Club’ (ABC) Peter Powers: Celebrity Superpowers I and II' (Ch 9), amongst other things. Anton also found time for remixing, reinterpreting tracks by Primary, The Drugs, Drop City, Stella 1-11, The Tenants and The Cops amongst others.
In 2003 The Artist in Anton had to resurface and The Hughes Leisure Group was born.
Many diverse artists have been drawn to the ecclectic creativity of the Leisure Group. Some of these friends include include Nu-Folk star Melanie Horsnell, Sydney breaks DJ and producer Bass Kleph, NZ Pop Star Nicolette Kenny, The Outlanders MCs, Ashley Rothschild (ex Caligula), and Mz Magdalena Terror from Mz Annthropik.
