About Me

The project "Dorothy Reade's Gertrude Stein" originated from a studio grant from the Berlin Culrtural Senate awarded to Barbara Jungfer and Pauline Boeykens in 2004.Together with guests Dan Gottshall and Eric Schaefer, this recording was made in 2005.Pauline has been a long-time fan and musical adventurer of Gertrude Stein's texts since reading "My Wife as a Cow a Love Story" in 1984.In addition to Gertrude Stein, Pauline has had the honor of recording and touring with the NDR (North German Radio) Big Band in Hamburg in productions of Gil Evans' "Porgy & Bess" and "Sketches of Spain" - a tuba player's dream come true...Pauline has been a student of Ed Livingston, Abe Torchinsky, Arnold Jacobs, John Stevens, Toby Hanks and Laurie Frink. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Yale School of Music. She currently performs with the quartet BrassAppeal (www.brassappeal.de), the Neues Simphonieorchester Berlin, the LUMP200 band and the Groovin' Santas tuba xmas quartet.
