About Me

Frank waits under the cherry tree for the Blue-Eyed Tinker to come and sing her a song on his mandolin. She watches the blossom come out and the cherries grow when spring turns to summer, she plays her songs for the raindrops as they fall for the puddles. When winter comes she hides in her attic rooms and dreams of the days when the leaves grow green and the blackbird sings her evening song.
Frank learned to play her guitar a long time ago, sitting under an apple tree by the seaside, while the summer passed gently by. Winter came and the birds stopped singing and she forgot about the guitar, but a chance meeting in a graveyard one day made her rush home and dust down its long-forgotten strings. The boy told her how to write songs and she rapidly refined her gentle finger-picking style to create compositions which were filled with tinkers, dragonflies, seagulls and long lost true lovers sailing way across the ocean in great clipper ships. Frank soon realised she also loved to sing the epic, long-lost stories told in forgotten old folk and country songs. The guitar has never been neglected and forgotten since.
With a song to sing she dances along and when she's lost for words she likes to play sweet sad songs on an old fiddle which came to her from a monk who went to Italy. If the Blue-Eyed Tinker comes she'll follow but until then, Frank will sit and sing as the daytime turns to night and the springtime turns to summer.
Frank very much hopes you will enjoy her music and drawings.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Frank
Influences: The late, great John Peel. Bob Dylan, Donovan, Vashti Bunyan, Devendra Banhart, early Tyrannosaurus Rex and Nick Drake. The Carter Family, Woody Guthrie, Hayes Sheperd, Dock Boggs, Mississippi John Hurt and old time country string bands. June Carter, Laura Cantrell and Devon Sproule. The Beach Boys, The Beatles and The Singing Postman. A.L.Lloyd and Anne Briggs. Tony Hall. Bird song, old hymns and ballroom dancing records.
Sounds Like: A tinkling guitar on a summer afternoon when sweet songs float on the breeze. Seagulls sailing up above and dragonfly wings buzz gently in the golden sunlight. A spider web catches the light as the golden evening sun dips down in the sky and the birds start to sing their evening song. When the sun has said goodbye for another day, a voice drifts through the starlit night sky, way above the chimney tops where sleepers are in their beds. A sweetly sung song tells of sailors far away and the magic Blue-Eyed Tinker. When the first light of day creeps across the horizon and the leaves are fresh and green, you wake up with a sweet song in your head and wander if it was all just a dream.
