Born out of the mean streets of Essex in 1990-something, bored with the sterile foppy music of the time, Guido Mark Tel and Nelly formed Subversive Reaction. After very little action and with Dave the half a drummer replacing Nelly, "SAS" was formed. Inspired by the anarchist bands of the 80's and extreme amounts of £1.99 white cider our anti heroes endeavoured to convert the sweet indie kids of Essex over to the sound of anarcho punk for the 90's-with a reasonable amount of success! After adding squat legend Billy Whizz on guitar and a complete drummer in Gary Baldy SAS became regulars on the London punk circuit, playing squats, festivals and the shittiest pubs you could imagine with a quest for freedom from the constraints of work, society and sobriety. Eventually getting bored of the shallow pool that was London punk- which basically consisted of a dozen bands that all sounded like Discharge (with a good few noteable exceptions!) in a tumble drier, Gary was replaced on drums by Devon from reggae combo Jah Flesh and Blood, and a second singer- namely Daley G was added. With a new name, Voice of Reason, and a new sound, punky reggae agit-pop whatever ya fancy, the six amigos carried on where they left off touring the toilet scene of London and Essex. They did record 3 songs for the Step One Records compilation "Punk Patrol" though. Dale eventually left due to the old musical diffrences or something, and was replaced by the excellent Essex enigma that was Roger. More gigs and a tour of Germany followed. But after endless gigs getting nowhere the band started to implode. First Devon had to leave as work and "gash" commitments prevented him from turning up. He turned out to be a hard drummer to replace and unfortunately he never was. Tel was the next to get itchy feet and spent the next 3 years rotting in a bedsit in his underpants. The rest soon followed. Billy became a diver of many talents, Mark became a disco drug fiend and Guido became a space hopper. As for Roger- who knows but maybe he's down the back of a sofa near you. Guido keeps playing music in London Irish punks Neck. Years on and everyone has less hair and less brain cells, so what better to do than get back together again. 2007, a new century, and Tel, Bill, Mark, Devon and Guido are back in the rehearsal rooms. Who knows where it will lead but keep watching and listening children cos you never know whats round the corner.Peace,Love,Anarchy!
