Apple Jack

About Me

Hit Thing in association with Tranquility Pictures is happy to announce the release of a very special American short film called “Apple Jack”. The all-region multi-lingual DVD is paired together with an expanded soundtrack CD in a DVD sized double-disc digi-pak. “Apple Jack” was the winner of Best Film in the Los Angeles Short-film Festival 2003. Written and directed by Mark Whiting, widely known for his production design for the animation film “The Iron Giant”, “Apple Jack” has charmed viewers with it’s breathtaking night time forest scenes and hilarious actors. A bumbling pair of brothers, recently escaped from prison named Les and Moe Danyou, seem destined to collide with a young skilled marksman named Jack and his paranoid war veteran Uncle Jitters. Whiting’s extraordinary ability to corral everything down such a bizarre path within sixteen minutes must be seen to be believed. American Country Music legend Randy Travis narrates “Apple Jack”. The entire film takes place on a farm in mid-western America on the eve of Halloween 1938 - the notorious evening of the Mercury Theatre Broadcast of “The War Of The Worlds”. The broadcast is prominent in the film, as the voice of Orson Welles himself guides helplessly both viewer and actors into the film’s magnificently horrific ending. The film score was produced by Toby Dammit in New York City and features a 21-member orchestra. The music runs the gamut of traditional styles of 1940’s Walt Disney orchestral scores combined with raw American blue grass and hair-raising 1950’s science fiction horror. This special limited edition features expanded full-length mixes of the entire score, as well as thirteen bonus tracks, clocking in at 49:00. Starring twin brothers Cole & Dylan Sprouse as Jack, as well as Academy Award-winner Walton Goggins as Moe Danyou, and Gene Dynarski (from X-Files, Mission Impossible and Star Trek The Next Generation fame!) as Helmut Jitters.
