I'd like to meet:
Local Long Distance is a radio program that puts the spotlight on the best in local and independent music on a city-by-city basis. There is a lot of great music out there that deserves the chance to be heard, and that is what this show is all about.
The show covers just about any genre you can think of, so it's easier to let you know what I'm not looking for than what I am looking for.
1) Hip-hop. - sorry, just not my thing. There are a scant few artists and songs from this genre that I actually do like, but for the most part, I just stay away from it. Perhaps some day there will be a spinoff that features this kind of music, but I will let someone else be in the driver's seat for that one.
2) Metal. - I actually have an appreciation for a lot of this type of music, but my headbanging years(1991-1994) are far behind me, I'm afraid. Again, a spinoff for this one is possible, but for now, no.
3) Anything with a blatantly commercial sound. I think that one is pretty self-explanitory.
4) Cover bands/artists - again, self-explanitory. The idea here is to promote good ORIGINAL music, so if you're in a Van Halen tribute band, or something of that nature, please contact Simon Cowell, not me. There is a (slight) possibility for exception here - if you bring something original to the table (Dread Zeppelin and Hayseed Dixie are examples) then by all means, I'd love to give you a listen.
So if you have a good sound, and you do not fall into any of those four categories, I'd love to give you some exposure. If you will just do us both a favor and send along some information and/or interesting stories about yourselves that I can pass on to the listeners, that would be wonderful.
I am a true music nerd, meaning I like photos, artwork, lyrics, album credits, and that sort of thing, which means if you send music to me I prefer the official CD release, rather than a promo copy, or a burned copy. If you don't have an "official" recording, though, burned copies are fine, and so are MP3s.
Here are the two ways you can send music to me:
