About Me

I love it when the bass kicks in.

My Interests

travelling, thrift stores, dancing, driving to no where in particular, caffeine buzzes, collecting vintage art, tending to houseplants, stepping outside my comfort zone, music, having pride in my weirdness, NPR, long winded conversations full of punctuation, boys, flea markets, Ebay, Japanese fashion, cats, cookies, making people laugh, getting lost, reading, journalism, writing, trying to guess the next song that the dj is mixing in, collecting weird things, eyeshadow, sushi, pretending to be creative.

Music:

Grandaddy, Air, French Kicks, Broken Social Scene, Steely Dan, the Shins, Bent, Elliot Smith, Ween, The Postal Service, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, !!!, Basement Jaxx, Air, Freezepop, LCD Soundsystem, The Faint, Michael Jackson, Outkast, Built to Spill, Ben Folds, Feist, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, obscure 80s music, Phoenix, Stevie Wonder, Olive, Tears for Fears, Fiona Apple, DJ Shadow, Royksopp, old Metallica, Death Cab, Everything But the Girl, Tricky, Faithless, Modest Mouse, The Cure, Massive Attack, Kings of Convenience, Justin Timberlake, Hot Hot Heat... Oh hell I just love music.

Movies:

I'm not a big mainstream movie person. I guess I just enjoy movies that make you think and discuss, rather than glaze your eyes over for a couple hours. Yes it's nice to escape life sometimes but I'd rather have something to ponder afterward. I'm still trying to figure out some of the following: Donnie Darko, Star Wars, Elephant Parts, Rushmore, Zoolander, Dead Alive, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, The Hours, Adaptation, Office Space, Strange Brew, 28 Days Later, Mulholland Drive, Kill Bill, Garden State, Pi, Labrynth, Eternal Sunshine, Swimming with Sharks.

Television:

I don't watch much tv anymore. But I'm pretty much addicted to Lost.

Books:

Just finished Harry Potter #7!!! AWESOME. Currently reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.
I mainly read modern literature, and I'm a sucker for the classics. I adore anything by Haruki Murakami. Other favorites: The Time Traveler's Wife, Harry Potter books, A Confederacy of Dunces, Angela's Ashes, Song of Solomon, The Bell Jar, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Waiting. I'm always searching for a good book.

Heroes:

Donald Fagen, My Cat Benson, (anyone who can lick their own ass--wow), and Pee Wee Herman, not necessarily in that order.

My Blog

Santa Cruz - I love you

Tonight, after the evening has died down and friends have dispersed, off to bed or retreating back into the hills of the town, I'm left here alone, sitting at a computer, the light from the kitchen on...

It's sad

When your friends use myspace to tell you that they don't want to be friends anymore.

To the guy in the coffee shop who almost made me cry:

It's the middle of the afternoon, skies are blue and all that remains of the clouds are opaque, wispy sinews that weave across the atmosphere, like the stitching of a handmade quilt that is slowly det...

The decision has been made.

I am coming home to Sacramento. That is what I have to do right now. I will work for a while, and travel later. Unfortunately, the opportunity to travel the world was too good to be true (it doesn't a...

I've decided something...

Today, as I was in my car, driving from LA to Tucson, I decided that I will no longer wait for things to happen to me. I will happen to things. Or, in less convoluted terms, I want to take a more...

Thank you

Sitting here in a super dumpy Days Inn in Albuquerque, New Mexico, alone on my 27th birthday, tired and a little stressed, I have had an epiphany. I've come to the realization that things are turning ...
