About Me

Ann Pedersen recently graduated from Berklee College of Music, Cum Laude, with a BM in Professional Music. She just began her graduate studies at CSU Long Beach to get a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies. At CSULB she is a member of the prestigious vocal jazz group Pacific Standard Time. She graduated in 2005 with an AA in Jazz Studies from American River College in Sacramento, CA. While there, Ann was performing with the Downbeat award winning Vocal Jazz Ensemble (Which won 3 of it's downbeats with her as lead soprano), the Jazz Collective-an American River College jazz combo, a local big band called the SwingMasters, and making special appearances with the Capitol Jazz Project and the Sacramento Children's Chorus. She has performed at Lincoln Center in New York City; The Knitting Factory, The Jazz Bakery, and The Brown Derby in Los Angeles; the GRAMMY awards nominee reception and special awards ceremony; The Monterey Jazz Festival; the Reno Jazz Festival; The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee in 2003-present; CMEA conferences in 2001, 2002, and 2004; the IAJE conferences in 2002, 2003, and 2005; and many other local venues. She has performed and studied with Jon Hendricks, Kurt Elling, Dr. Joe Gilman, Jennifer Barnes-Shelton, Dr. Ronald C. McCurdy, Justin DiCioccio, Dr. Art LaPierre, Kitty Margolis, Victor Goines, Kirk Whalum, Dave Koz, Craig Faniani, Josh Murray, Dyne Eifersten, Henry Robinett, Mike McMullen, Kerry Kashiwagi, Rick Lotter, Tom Peron, David Scott, and Lisa Thorson.. Ann attended Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, California from 1998-2002. While there she performed with the Honors Concert Band, playing clarinet, and sang with the award winning AM Jazz Band. Her honors include the Ella Fitzgerald Outstanding Vocalist Award in 2001 and 2002, received at Lincoln Center from Wynton Marsalis, participation in the California All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble in 2002, and participation in the GRAMMY High School Vocal Jazz Choir in 2002. Recently she also received an Outstanding Vocal Performance award from Downbeat magazine for a CD that she made with the Joe Gilman Trio.
