About Me

Hello, My name is Mike.
The Musician. I love music. I primarily play bass, but own quite a few guitars and play some drums, too. Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Jari Maenpaa, Colin Marston, and Daron Malakian are my biggest musical influences. I'm in the process of composing pieces of my own, but I am constantly rewriting and deleting pieces, so who knows when it will be done. I try to respect all kinds of music that puts forth passion and talent.
Guitars I own are an Ibanez 1984 Destroyer X, an Ibanez 1981 Destroyer II, and an Ibanez EX3700. My basses are an Ibanez EXB445 and a Warwick Fortress Masterman five string that is an absolustely beautiful piece of art. Every once in a while, I'll whip out my first bass, a Fender Mexican P-bass that I have modified with many stickers and a DiMarzio brass bridge/nut/strap button set.
The Nerd. I love playing video games, primarily older style RPGs. My favorite RPGs are Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, and Super Mario RPG. Super Smash Bros. Melee is another favorite. I main Jigglypuff , but play a bunch of other characters such as Fox, Falco, DK, and Captain Falcon. I also play the other Smash Bros. games. In SSB64 I main Jiggs and Mario, and in SSBB I main Jiggs and Toon Link. I also play games based off of the Source engine, Counter Strike being my favorite.
I enjoy the aforementioned subjects, coffee, jelly T (that Sunny will not give to me for free any more), people with a beautiful soul, the dark, quietness, rain and thunderstorms, being myself, and of course spending time with those who matter most to me.
I hate it when people hurt themselves. It really really hurts me. Even if I don't know you, if I see you hurting yourself, I cannot help but feel bad. It pains me greatly to see people killing themselves, hurting themselves, even if they don't know it. I do believe that all races are created equal, and will hold it against you if you are a racist. Some of the most amazing people in the world are not "white," and I believe it to be absolutely stupid to stereotype them just because they aren't exactly of your culture. I do believe in God, but in no way that anyone you know does. I hate hippies.
Though I may sound like an arrogant person, I try to be a nice person as long as you don't try to fist any arguments down my throat. I don't like to argue with people too often, especially when it results in losing a friend. The kind of people I want to meet are those who can still talk to me and get to know me even after reading the above text.
If you would like to contact me, my AIM is SaiyanMikey, or my email address is [email protected]. I'm most always on AIM, and never check my email.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Tom Jenkinson, otherwise known as Squarepusher. He is the absolute most overlooked bass player, ever. His music is nothing short of genius, as he thinks it up and plays everything on his own, fitting all kinds of crazy bass solos into the cracks of his drum'n'bass madness. He has some amazing riffs, too.
If anything, my goal is to be as good as, if not better than, this man. I would seriously consider him better than Victor Wooten. His technique is flawless and he is the biggest innovator of the bass since the instrument's inception.

Jari Maenpaa, guitarist of Wintersun and ex-guitarist of Ensiferum. He's one of the most insane guitar players I've ever heard. He has VERY clean playing, his riffs are heavy, and he doesn't overplay like most good guitar players do. His vocals are among my favorite in metal, both his singing and screaming.

Even though I've already met him, I'd love to jam with Colin Marston, Warr guitarist of Behold... the Arctopus and Dysrhthmia. Possibly the most technical musician I've ever heard, Colin Marston's Warr playing makes it sound like Behold... the Arctopus has two guitar players. You have to have quite the brain capacity to handle 12 strings going in reverse directions from inside the neck, and Colin puts it into extreme prog metal in both a brutal and tasteful manner.

Ron Jarzombek, guitarist of Blotted Science and Spastic Ink. This guy is, hands down, the most insane guitarist alive. The music he writes is beyond crazy, and the solos he composes over it are the most mind blowing solos ever. Without a doubt the most overlooked guitarist ever.

Percy Jones. The other fretless bass wizard from the 80s, often overshadowed by Jaco Pastorius for whatever reason. Personally I think Percy's chops surpass Jaco's in terms of tastiness and fluidity. He is such a smooth player and he really knows his way around his instrument.

Ron Jarzombek. His guitar player is among the weirdest I have ever heard. His phrasing is so strange, but always sounds amazing. Forget Dream Theater, both of his bands have the craziest time signature and feel changes of anyone.

Sean Malone. Bassist for Cynic and Gordian Knot. Another fretless wizard, this guy puts it into progressive metal and makes it sound incredible. His chops are crazy good, and he even handles the Chapman stick nicely. Another bass player who gets no recognition for his amazing work.
