Pistola el Socio

About Me

Pistola Aka el socioComing from the enigmatic and troublesome 7th ward in New Orleans, Pistola has become the new icon for the Latin American community. Being able to speak both English and Spanish, he has brought a new perspective to the stage. This “broken Spanish” style has both the Hip-Hop and Latin community requesting his music. Edwin H. unpredictable bad temper allowed for his alter ego Pistola to become a phenomenal producer and rapper. Engineering and producing with such artists as Jadakiss, the late Soulja Slim, KLC, and Lil wayne, Pistola has learned many different ways to make the best sounding music. His talent was uncovered just by having fun with his peers in the studio. While waiting for artists to come into the studio and during breaks, Pistola unleashed “Spanglish” in his rap. Pistola has made his music clearly different than the currently popular Reggaeton. His goal is to be a hero for the Latin American community. Young Latinos growing up feel they must either listen to Spanish music or American music. Even though Reggaeton is trying to bridge that gap, Pistola’s music is the medium between two styles that incorporates both while staying witty and thrilling. The new and exciting “Spanglish” rap was recognized with his first featured song with CAC in 2001. His following started small with only handing out 4 CDS. Now, Pistola is being requested, handing out and selling close to 80,000 CDs of his most recent Pa le Kalle. From listening to his music, Pistola has influences from both American and Latin music. He accredits Tu Pac and Yung Jezzy for the serious tone of his music. Also, Eminem influences his witty remarks, while his animated rhythm comes from Busta Rhymes’ music. Influences such as Marc Anthony, Kid Frost, Cypres Hill, Big Pun, Jerry Rivera, Eddie Santiago has helped Pistola’s music become as passionate as it is. The sole effort of music is to be able to reach someone else’s emotions and struggles. Pistola’s music is a reflection of his children, his hustle, his struggles and his future. Pistola’s reputation precedes him; he is disliked by some and loved by others, but respected by all. The notoriety of this “Spanglish” rap has transcended from the Latin community into the black community. Pistola’s music, his story, is desired and needed in the music industry.
