We would like to meet you! But, for now, here's some info about us: The Comedy Connection's co-founders/instructors are Michael D. Nye and Emily A. Hastings. Former Groundling Michael D. Nye is best known for playing "Mr. Arnott" in David Zucker's High School High, and the recurring character "Pa" on the HBO Series Carnivale. He has done Movies of the Week, pilots, and has starred in numerous national commercials. Michael has performed in improv shows with The Groundlings, Second Coat, and the Berubians. He also co-founded the improv troupes Mockingbird and Loose Cannons. Along with teaching improv, he has taught and performed stand-up comedy. For the stage he has written and directed several sketch shows, as well as the hit comedy The Big Farewell. Michael directed the NBC pilot Comedy on a Roll, and wrote and directed two independent feature films: Grave Images and Night Tour. He is the author of the forthcoming book Dynamic Acting. With a theater arts degree from CSU, Chico, Emily A. Hastings has performed in numerous theater productions and independent films. Some of these films include the completely improvised Aquafriend 3000, as well as Paradise Crossing and Achoo, I love You. She was a featured actor on The Untold Stories of the ER, Horror Kung-Fu Theater, and the soap opera Heartbreak Café. Emily has performed stand-up comedy at the Improv, and has worked with several sketch comedy/improv groups, including Monkey Business, Instant Improv, and Loose Cannons.
The Comedy Connection improv classes are great whether you are new to improv, have taken classes before, or have been taking classes for years. And, if you're into stand-up and/or sketch comedy, this will be a perfect place to create characters and develop ideas for new material. In addition, we are looking forward to forming an Orange County based troupe with class participants!
