About Me

Glen's music has been placed in independent films and plays and was recently featured on ABC World News programming. In January 2008, his single, "Something Better" from his recently released debut cd, ". . .before the crowd." ranked number one for most requested song on Midnight Blues Radio. His song “Fish” also ranked best folk/roots song on Moozikoo Radio. Glen is currently promoting ". . .before the crowd," produced by music veteran Dean Bailin. Glen's music has inspired musical collaborations with a broad range of talented performers and artists. His recent collaborations include work with master slam poet, Dujuana Sharese; award winning classical saxophonist, Kevin Gosa; award winning performance artist, Christine Goodman; Irish troubadour, Matt Gibbons; and multi instrumentalist and vocalist, Dan McBride. At three years old, Glen Coleman was diagnosed with chronic "spungivitis" -- the medical condition of soaking up everything that surrounds him. At four years old, Glen walked through his house on a beautiful spring day while Bach's Brandenburg blasted. As Glen bounced to Bach's bass, Mom moaned: the spungivitis was real.In college, Glen's bicycle trips throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East forged the lyrical impetus for his songs, portraying the dramatic landscapes through which he traveled. His sensual acoustic guitar gave his words rhythm and color. Glen learned, his sponge-like condition and extended travels was the magic that made his songs open peoples' hearts.

Influences: Formative Experiences:Five years old. Walking through my house on a perfect Spring day, the windows were open and Bach's Brandenburg Concertos played. Heaven.Eight years old. Violin Recital at Cambridge Park Elementary School. I memorize the melody that I'm assigned to play. While performing it, I smile from ear to ear.Junior High School: Kicked out of Middle School band. Reading notes, boring.High School: I play my brother's drum set for hours. I fall in love with the instrument and the physicality that the instrument requires.Senior year of high school up to the present: I pick up the guitar and become obsessed with it. Still, every morning, I find myself habitually drawn to the guitar, which I play for an hour before rising from bed.James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Muddy Waters, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder--they were my earliest musical influences.
Sounds Like: James Taylor meets Billie Holiday meets Martin Sexton meets Chet Baker meets Louis Armstrong and (of course) Muddy Waters. I love acoustic music. I own sixteen or so guitars (depending on the month or to whom I've given guitars away or guitars I've purchased). I find myself drawn to many musical styles--blues, bluegrass, bassa, and bass-beat-funk. The essence of my music boils down to singing from the heart and accompanying my singing with sensual guitar.
