Not only am I married. . .but I'm married to the cutest, most adventurous, adrenaline-addicted beach boy you've ever met. Dave's been known to surf naked; run back-to-back full marathons; and single-handedly juggle house, kids and work while I've been in the hospital. And, he'll even tear up at the end of Disney movies! What more could a woman want? (And for all those with dirty minds, shame on you!)Not only am I a proud parent. . . I have 2 adorable carbon copies of David and myself. Mary Elizabeth (age 8 1/2)) is the spitting image of David down to her fingernails and toenails. As an infant she seemed to have his laid-back personality, but now she's grown into Mommy's Mini Me (a bit dramatic, type A, something of a worrier). Emmy (as we call her) is a third grade Honors student obsessed with all things horses and American Girl. She's especially talented at drawing and painting, but writing seems to be a passion. She's written lyrics for several songs, and loves to write "Guess Who I Am" character sketches or even descriptions of the places she imagines. She's also has a penchant for music. Emmy loves Punk (courtesy of Mom and Dad) especially Social Distortion's "Ring of Fire" and Bouncing Souls' "Ole, Ole, Ole" but is equally rabid over the Cheetah Girls and Kidz Bop. My brother recently gave her a guitar and she's off and running with that one too! Sarah Grace (age 4 1/2)) is her own little tornado! Independent and contrary from the very beginning, she has always tried to be the one in charge. She looks very much like me and has my temper, but she has her Daddy's fearless spirit through and through. She charges in, face to the wind, just like David -- the two of them are in for great adventures together! She has a particular pouty scowl that her grandparents have named the "mad bluebird" and many days Sarah Grace stomps around looking for someone to tickle her into a giggle fit (trust me, it doesn't take much). Sarah Grace spends much of her day dancing and singing. She loves preschool and begs to stay for Lunch Bunch with her friends. When she isn't being cute and cuddly, she's off torturing her big sister... she's become a fabulous petty thief and an expert at hiding the stolen goods. Very sneaky. I'm also Mom to an 12-year old white persian cat named Bailey and a 14-year old smooth fox terrier Hanna. The cat-dog dynamic has certainly set the household on its ear... read bark, howl, hiss, spit, screams, running, scrambling, scratching, whew.
