I am the bass player and a composer in the Gothenburg based Swedish rock band Destiny. I’m also a radio announcer even though I have retired that job for the time being.
Most of my life has revolved around music in some way. I grew up listening to a lot of classical music. My first record was an EP by the Beatles, "Yellow Submarine". My first album was "Per Gynt" by Grieg and my first rock album was probably "Not Fragile" by Bachman Turner Overdrive. Even though I play in a Heavy Metal band my musical tastes and influences are all over the place. A good song is a good song no matter what genre.
I started to play bass at the age of 17 in 1977 when I lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA. In 1978 I moved back to Gothenburg, Sweden, and tried to form a band, with no success.
In 1980 I meet guitarist John Prodén and drummer Peter Lundgren and we formed the first version of Destiny (or Presence depending on who you talked to). This only lasted for a couple of months.
Later the same year I teamed up with an excellent guitarist called Ulf Jenevall and we formed the band Refug. The band only lasted for about nine months and split up when I was summoned for military cervices. It was during my time in Refug that I became a competent bass player, thanks to Ulf.
After the military cervices were completed in 1982 I met guitarist Magnus Österman and we formed a band called Hexagon that soon recruited John Prodén and changed its name to Destiny. The other original members where Therese Hanserot on vocals and Björn Centergran on the drums. I have built and run the Destiny Recording Studio where Destiny recorded “Future Of The Past†and “Beyond All Sense 2005â€.
I have also organised numerous concerts in Gothenburg such as release parties, Rock Scene Göteborg, Halloween Metal Fest and Gothenburg Metal Festival.
The Radio stations that I have worked with are Radio FM, Z Radio, Radio RIX, City 107 and Radio Match. On most of these stations I have done the morning shows.
