Biography:
Danilo Dawson: Composer, Songwriter, Pianist.
Danilo Dawson was born in 1986, in Antofagasta, Chile. When he was 6 years old he began to play piano and sing, however his formal education began when he was 14 (2001), with Rafael Ramos Psijas y Rafael Ramos Vivar, in the EMCCA (Escuela de Musica de la Corporación Cultural de Antofagasta) receiving in the second year an excelence scholarship; with those masters he studied Piano in Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Impressionists repertories, Music Theory and Counterpoint. and at the same time he continued with his self-taugh popular training, learning guitar and harmony, at the same time he began to compose songs as well as instrumental themes. At the same time he joined Juvenis (a band made up by the best students of the same school, who played songs from Mozart to six hands pieces, and Jazz), and interpreting as soloist, musical works as the Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwing and the Concert for Piano in D Major and the Orchestra by Haydn, with the Symphonic Orchestra of Antofagasta, in the Municipal Theatre of the City. In 2002 he studied bagpipe with the Pipe Mayor Findlay Mcdonnald, because a scholarship gived from the British Council. In 2003 he made a promotional album with another 14 singer-songwriters and selected in the Song Festival Essan at a local level. Record also promoted in radios in the North of the Country. At the same time, he took part in the Festival’s Band, of the Voice’s Festival in the 14th of February in Antofagasta, during 2 consecutive years (2003-2004), playing piano, keyboards, guitar, transcribing and making arrangements, he performed in 2004 in the Local Stadium of Antofagasta before an audience of 30.000 people. In 2005, he travelled to Santiago to study composition in the Escuela Moderna de Música, at the same time he worked as a teacher in the Music Workshop of the Betzabé Hormazabal School, in San Miguel,Santiago, mainly teaching to blind girls. In 2006, he received the excellence scholarship from the institution and he won the first place in the composition’s competition of the Escuela Moderna, with his work: “Hoja Primera†(for piano solo). Last year he played and arranged the Musical Theatre "Cabaret" and "Pulp Fiction" in the EMM (Escuela Moderna de Música), also was on the Juan Pablo Leal’s band at the National Electric Guitar Festival, winning the first national place at advanced level and had finished his first EP album as a songwriter called "Atracción" with his band. And now is editing his first music book and album for piano solo, called "Hojas de tiempo" .: :
