How do I begin to describe the chaos that is the white t shirt project. I had this idea about a year ago, and it was awesome. Problem being that anytime I tried to execute it, things would not go as planned.So I took a breather, and re worked the original concept. And now here it is, Phase II! This time I have enlisted the help of more people and decided to take my time before going "alright lets shoot this thing!". I know that once I get this idea off the ground, it'll do really well.So here's the idea. Show up at the location (we'll be renting out either the park theatre or the ellice street theatre for the occasion) wearing a plain, loose fitting white t-shirt and plain, non attention grabbing pants/shoes. Do not put product in your hair, do not put make up on your face. Do not wear accessories of any kind, and put retainers in piercings if at all possible. Basically, strip yourself of anything you use in everyday life to express yourself.Each person will have 5 minutes on stage (thats longer than it sounds, trust me!) and you will fill in the blanks on the following statements.my name is: I am: 3 words I would use to describe myself are: while I have your attention, I would like to say: (use this time to promote yourself! a brilliant idea, your band, your home business, or just do a little dance, whatever!)We will film the whole thing, and then arrange to film some select people in their own environment, still wearing the white t-shirt but this time making it your own, whatever that means to you.Sound fun?The idea behind the project is that everyone is given a blank canvas to work with when they are born, and we all do our own thing with that canvas. How much of who you are is how you present yourself aesthetically? Each and every one of us makes a statement with our appearance, even if its that we just don't care about it. I hope that this film will be a documentary of self expression.
