About Me

As a child growing up in Wilmington, North Carolina, the oldest of three children in a single parent household. I was both frightened and amazed by my almost insane surroundings. My earliest endeavors involved those things sure to get a laugh from my peers, and guaranteed to get me expelled from the educational system. I associated myself with a group of minor drug dealers, boosters and ladies of the night. These folks carried a certain freedom within themselves that I admired, even though their lifestyles were seriously marginalized. Through my associations I developed an urge to grow and explore my own freedom. this newfound urgency fueled me to graduate high school, and ahead of schedule at that. Not wanting to settle into the traditional grind of everyday life, I set off to what would be my own personal Oz-New York City. After a less than memorable stay with relatives, I pursued a modeling career, which was later aborted. I then joined Job Corps where I had the good fortune to have as my roommate a fledgling rapper who allowed me to listen to his very own demo tapes. I became intrigued and more infatuated by the rough, raw and creative energy that seemed to flow as freely, as water from an open spring.I was eager to immerse myself in the newness of what I had found. I was encouraged by my peers, challenged to be found as I was beginning to see that I could be. But, strangely enough, I deemed myself not ready: My first obstacle turned out to be myself. After graduating Job Corps I drifted: Odd jobs, schools etc. Despite this my creative fires were still fueling me. While working at a temporary job I was introduced by a co-worker to a musician; this would turn out to be my big leap from dreaming of a career to actually pursuing one. I became an avid writer of rhymes and poetry that are a fusion of funk and hip-hop. Never superficial or merely glossy. The sound is very fresh and innovative while still retaining an edge. I have a special penchant for guitar riffs aswell.Out of an unexpected journey that has finally come to fruition, I present myself dazzling and strong........Introducing,-King Jabbar
