KastR RidgE "KastR KorporatioN RecordS" "Korporate Productions" biographyMy name is Wess Lambright and I am a 22-year-old singer/writer/producer/MC/all-round musician. I would like to start by telling you a little about myself.I grew up in Maple Ridge (a suburb of Vancouver), BC, Canada. My first musical experience was introduced to me when I was put in piano lessons at the age of 8. After quickly progressing through 3 levels of piano, I decided that music, through the notes I played, was the one and only way for me to express how I really felt. After 2 years of piano I became interested in playing the guitar after watching my dad play. One day (at age 10), he handed me a Fender acoustic guitar, taught me an "E" chord, and I haven’t stopped playing since. At age 12 I wrote my first song, and a year later I started experimenting with drums and bass to gain further knowledge and to discover "my own" sound. Throughout elementary school I played in a rock band, but soon broke off on my own to create a more serious approach to music. By the time I was 14 I got very interested in recording myself and soon received a 4-track tape recorder from my dad. I recorded my first 10 songs on that recorder and developed a keen ear and interest in producing.Throughout high school I continued to write, record and produce my own music and gained much needed experience along the way. Follow me to age 16 where mixed genres warped my creativity into overdrive. Hiphop started becoming an over-powering influence in my musical direction. Me being an accomplished poet, hiphop poetic versus could not be ignored. My musical interests started ranging from Metallica, Korn, and Ozzy, to DMX, Xzibit, Eminem and 2pac. So I worked with it, generating new ideas, new concepts and new styles. I started free styling with local MC's, producing beats using drum machines, keyboards, guitars and bass's, as well as making my own samples and compositions.Just before I turned 17, a company in the states called EMP muzik offered me a 1-year contract to come on tour and perform with them; however, I had to reject the contract due to personal and financial reasons. After I graduated from Westview Secondary School, I moved to Kelowna, BC to attend OUC (Okanagan University College) where I received my Certificate in Audio Engineering and Production. Throughout my time at OUC I continued to write and record new material. I also started buying better recording equipment and better software on my computer for mastering. Soon after, I completed a mini-home studio in my basement in Kelowna and released my first independent hiphop record, in the beginning, comprised of 10 demo songs. The CD was handed out as a promo throughout Kelowna and all the way back home to Maple Ridge. After the CD reached home the local newspaper approached me. The paper wanted to do a write-up on my poems and songs as part of up-and-coming "local" talent on the rise. The article spotlighted my poems and also showcased poem contests that I had won, as well as books that my poems have been published in. After the article was released, the local paper in Kelowna wanted to put some of my poems in the paper as well. Since then my poems have been published in 3 books, as well as a coffee house cd sold in the states.Once people back home got a look at me in the paper, I knew that I'd have to make another CD. I then got working on what would be my second independent release (Visualize the Prize). I released it under the company name "KastR KorporatioN RecordS", and it was finished with a total of 20 refined tracks. After graduating from OUC I returned home to promote my second release. After selling roughly 400 CD's in my small town and giving out promo copies in Vancouver, I started performing with local MC's in clubs such as, Mesaluna, au'bar, and richards on richards in Vancouver. I also, did 2 performances at the street beatz 1&2 shows in pitt meadows rec hall. In the midst of all of this, a radio station in Vancouver called "The Beat 94.5", agreed to play my first single (How We Do It) on the new "bud segment" of the show. The song aired at 11 o'clock at night and soon got more requests for airplay. Unfortunately, due to the quality of the song, (recorded on an 8-track), they only played it for a few weeks.Since then I have released 4 more cd's. My 3rd indie record called "The Ghost", my 4th cd was a remix cd called "lost remix demos", my 5th cd was called "the RAW recordings", my 6th was called "the artist", and I am currently working on my 7th hiphop cd, and my alternative CD under the name GrendL. My hiphop stage is KastR RidgE.I continue to make many genres of music and have high hopes to one day see great success in the music industry. I'm inviting you to be a part of it.Email: [email protected] regards,Wess Lambright (KastR RidgE/GrendL) "KastR KorporatioN RecordS" "Korporate Productions"
