W.O.N.D.A. (Watch One N*gga Do it All) was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He was first introduced to Hip Hop when his older cousin would play re-recorded videos from "Yo MTY Raps" and "The Box" while cutting his hair in his aunt's basement. At age 11 he bought his first album on cassette, Dr. Dre's "The Chronic". Decribing his love for his newly found art he borrows words from the late, great, Notorious B.I.G. saying "I used to let my tape rock untill my tape popped". He continues on "It wasn't just the fact that they were promoting all the things that can capture a young mans brain, Sex, Drugs, and Violence, it was more about them having fun and just expressing themselves. You could tell that everyone involved was having a ball, just saying whatever they wanted and not really worrying about record sales or any other industry B.S. They just wanted to make good music".
Unfortunately the world of Hip Hop he grew to love at age 11 is far from what it used to be. That still doesn't stop him from trying to recreat that feeling evertime he steps in the booth. Even though record sales is something you have to be conscious of he won't let it control his every move. W.O.N.D.A. first discovered his talent as a lyricist in the tenth grade. When bored in class he would write rhymez to pass the time by. At first he didn't take it serious, but the more he wrote the more he noticed that he could do it for real. While enrolled at Howard University, he decided to record his first albulm, but ran into one problem. He had no beats. It was then that he tried his hand in production. A friend of his convinced him to get an MPC 2000XL saying "That's all you need". So he immediately did whatever he had to do to scrape up the $1200 to get one. He got so involved in the production process that he started slacking on his writing and putting more an more effort into making tracks. He had truly caught the production bug and for the next couple years would solely concentrate on producing and would only write hooks. He even went as far as becoming a certified engineer by graduating from The Sheffield School of Recording Arts. This would prove to be a very beneficial move making him a well rounded artist and not just a lyricist. He could now make a beat, come up with the hook, write the verses and have a hand in the recording, and mixing processes. Now in '07 he is ready to put it all together and truly let the world watch one n*gga do it
all.
