About Me

DREW BRODY is a NYC-based singer/songwriter who recently released his first solo album (available on iTunes). He wrote the music and lyrics for the new musical Cutman (BannerNY Productions), which recently debuted at the New York Musical Theater Festival. Drew is also the frontman for the band M-LAB (www.m-labmusic.com). He recently lent his vocals to the club dance tune "Utopia" with Benny Maze - the song is now out on Curvve Recordings.
In the summer of 2006, Drew hosted and curated the Baskethouse Acoustic Folk Series, a weekly free summer music series at the Bitter End in New York's Greenwich Village, a show that will continue this summer. The show emphasizes a connection with the folk traditions of New York City - thoughtful lyrics, genuine songwriting - and it features some of the best musicians in the city.
Drew also created the Baskethouse Song-a-Week Challenge. This podcast ran for six months in 2006-2007 and challenged 12 independent, DIY songwriters to record a new song each week. over the course of the podcast, 185 songs were recorded.
In 2007, Drew founded Baskethouse Records and produced an acoustic solo album, his first solo CD. The songs are an eclectic mix of original folk-y songs. On the album, Drew also recorded two of his favorite covers: John Prine's "Angel from Montgomery" (with vocals from Pamela Quinn and Amal Bouhabib) and Michael P. Smith's "The Dutchman." The CD is available for sale at www.baskethouserecords.com and on iTunes.
Drew's song "Prove Me Wrong" was chosen as a finalist in November 2007 in the highly esteemed Song of the Year Contest.
