About Me

I see a lot of music, on average 3-4 times a week. I thought I would try posting reviews of the shows I see. Since I live in Chicago, I see mostly small, local acts who usually get no mainstream press.

This is not a critical site. I'll go see what I like or what is recommended to me by friends, so I'm predisposed to like what is on stage.

I play the mandolin, so I lean towards bluegrass and folk music, but I see all types. Favorite venues include Schuba's, the Hideout, the Empty Bottle, Subterranean, and most of all the Old Town School of Folk Music.

My Blog

Robbie Fulks and Kevin Gordon

I'd hit a music dry spell lately.  No reason, really, it's just that the shows I wanted to see were on dates I couldn't make.  When I was free, nothing really compelled me to head out. ...
