Ananda was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1987 and started her artistic life early. At age 3 she got inniciated in the world of dance through classic ballet. At 5 she got on stage for the first time, in what would be the first step of a victorious road. So she started accumulating experience with dance, theater and then music. From this point, she entered her artistic journey, that in the range of dance included from modern ballet to yoga dance, counting with jazz dance, tap dance, street dance, flamenco, and holistic dance. Ananda practices Yoga since 7. From the 17 years in which she has been envolved with dance, what remains today as everyday pactice is the contemporary dance, at the Centro de Movimento Deborah Colker and the Conservatório Brasileiro de Dança, with Henrique Talmah. On the stage, Ananda feels comfortable. In her shows, she sings and dances with spontaneity. The body presence is a fundamental key among the many talents that move her work.

During all of her childhood and adolescence, Ananda was envolved in stage experiences, practicing what she learned in acting courses. She performed in children’s plays like Chapeuzinho Amarelo, by Chico Buarque, and made appearances in adult dance montages. Soon she got used to TV cameras, being freqüently requested for video and fotografic modeling, usually in advertising.

She started studying lyrical singing at age eleven, singing opera and canzonettas, most of them by Alessandro Scarlatti, her favorite erudite music songwriter, and having in the Ave Maria by Gounod her great triumph. Enroling guitar classes at age 13, Ananda started to get envolved in many projects and bands. At this time, she had her first contacts with music studios and started to acquire familiarity with the recording environment. She returned to Grupo Anima, in which she had already taken part as a dancer, under the direction of the choreographer Chara, now also singing and playing guitar at the events, congresses and cultural centers where they perfomed. In parallel to Grupo Anima, Ananda was forming her first bands, with her own songs and covers of her favorite artists. In 2002 she joined Punkitas, a feminine band from Rio’s underground scenery assuming guitar and vocals. At this time, she learned how to stabilish good communication with the public, always obtaining very positive results.

When she turned 16, started performing as a solo artist and dove deep in the elaboration of her work as a singer and writer. But it was in the years of 2004, in a school talent show, that Ananda first affirmed herself as a solo singer, perfoming the song Não Me Direis. And Ananda, that went up on stage all by herself, holding her guitar, walked out of it in between compliments and touched comments, sure that she was walking the right path. It had so much and such good repercussion that Ananda, after the public’s fervent manifestation, was invited to perform during one week on every High School class in her college. The poetry written by herself and read before the song became a composition theme for the whole school. From this incentive on, she firmed herself as Ananda, singer, doing shows followed by her band: Filippo Piloto on the guitar, Marcelo Gigante on the bass and Renan Santos on the drums.

Ananda speaks english (graduated by Brasas) and has in this language a strong ally for many of her songs, one of them is the ballad Freedom, with versions in english and portuguese. The singer also feels extremely comfortable to write songs in spanish, a language by which she is fascinated since her childhood, and which she learned to speak in a self-teaching way. Besides that, has weekly singing classes with the highly regarded Monique Aragão (composer and ex-teachar from Fama TV show).

In the year of 2005 she enroled the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), coursing the Plastical Arts faculty. The course for Ananda is more a resource for research of her own artistc potential than anything else. According to her, elaborating a visual esthetics is important for the artist’s image and indispensable for the music as a product. At this point, the plastic arts, dance and music merge into Ananda’s scenic expression.

In 2006 she was selected with the song A Outra Face by the respectable examination body of the B de Banda festival, promoted by the brazilian newspaper Jornal do Brasil (JB). Her show counts with the glow of her young musicians, all of them extremely talented, taking the public in na intense and explosive journey. Mixing up some covers like Don’t Speak by No Doubt, You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette and Garganta, by Ana Carolina to her own songs, the show is a fantastic blend. As well as these artists, also influenced her work others like Madonna, Nirvana, Pink, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Today, with more than 50 songs, Ananda feels the criativity flow each day more and concretize in this work. These and other factors make Ananda a promissing talent that still has a lot to show.
