About Me

I've been DJing in clubs and at parties since around 1992. I'd say my style was funky, techy, deep house with a big splash of soul. I've also dabbled in promotional work over the years and I currently co promote a night called Knee Deep. The next event will be a soul, funk, rare groove eclectic night on the sat 13th october with the disco assassins headlining. Then a deep / tech house night with terry francis as the guest on sat 24th nov. Both will be held in the lounge / bar room at the mud club in Bognor regis.

My Interests

I'm into music, eating out, clubbing, cooking, reading and keeping fit / sports.

Music:

My first love was listening to my older brothers jazz funk and soul records when I was about 12. From then on black influenced music was always important to me. Artists like Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, Marvin Gaye, Dexter Wansel, Curtis Mayfield, Leroy Hutson, Lonnie Liston Smith, Gil Scot Heron, Jocelyn Brown, Teddy Pendergrass, George Duke, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Grover Washington Jr and Donald Bird were early inluences from that genre. In the eighties me and my mates would go to soul and dance weekenders the famous ones at the time being Caisters and Prestatyn. There would normally be three rooms playing different styles of soul, jazz and dance. Later on in the eighties house music exploded onto the scene. I can still remember being at Caisters prob around 1987/88 in a little back room listening and dancing to early forms of this music. I loved the freshness and feeling of unity that this new scene provided. Magical times !Then in the late 80's early 90's I heard dj's such as Eddie Richards, Terry Francis, Mr C, Aubrey, Colin Dale and Femi B. They were all playing quality house music that just had so much soul and feeling. Also we had our own scene right here in West Sussex with interdance at Sterns in Worthing, Empire and White sugar in Bognor and the legendary parties at Toppers. Of course lots of travelling was done to visit nights out of the area, the best and I was gona say most memorable (but can't remember much) being the wiggle parties. Mad times !It's funny now because i've come full circle and im going to soul nights again which is like a breath of fresh air. This is why we have two rooms at our knee deep parties. House room and soul room, it's basically the night we want to go to!Other early musical influences include David Bowie,The Specials, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Jam, The Clash, David Byrne, Depeche Mode and many more. I'm also into stuff like The Strokes, The Killers, The Kooks, Muse, The Ranconteurs, Kasabian e.t.c. Music, I'm into anything that sounds good really!
