GOT SOUL?

About Me

SoulClash is an independent, Bristol-based promotion company (I use the word 'company' in the loosest sense of the word) that seeks out original music made by inspired, creative people with real ideas and a genuine love for their art then puts it on a stage, lets people know when it's gonna be on a stage or on a disk and generally spreads the word.
What I'm trying to do here is get past all the bullshit and find stuff that's actually good, something that's worth chatting bollocks about because the bollocks isn't really bollocks. Sound like a load of pretentious shite? Maybe, but there are so many people out there who spend more time talking about music and trying to define it than they spend enjoying or appreciating it. I'm sick of these so called artists, these self proclaimed experts and other assorted Nathan Barley wannabes who are more concerned about their image than their recycled, mainstream crap that we've heard a million times before. How much pop music is just Soul without a Soul?
In case any of you were wondering, SoulClash isn't just about Soul music. It used to be - originally it was the name of a night at Joe Public's, which even then included all sorts of other stuff, namely funk, jazz, blues, reggae, more funk, dub, dubstep, trip hop, drum & bass, more funk and the occasional Bollywood classic thrown in for good measure (cheers Luke!) but mostly it was Soul music. We had great times, heard some great music, danced like drunken banshees from the planet groove and then caused absolute mayhem on the way home, but these were early days for SoulClash.
Here's a video of The Outfits.
Nowadays SoulClash is about pretty much any kind of music that means something, tunes made by people who have spent hours each day working on their music, trying to honour their heroes rather than just rip them off, who have suffered for their art for the love of what they do. Essentially what I'm talking about is geeks.
SoulClash would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to some of the afore-mentioned geeks, some true eccentrics, freaks and weirdos who have spent years obsessively crafting their sounds into the godawful assults on your ears that they represent today.
