Electronic artist Justin Mullins currently finds himself in Canberra, pushing the sonic boundaries in styles ranging from electro to tech to breaks with a few detours taken in between. Justin's production is marked by an attention to detail, funky basslines and madly tweaked rhythmic effects and beats.
Justin kicked off his music career as a drummer playing in fusion bands and percussion ensembles in Melbourne. Growing up in the 80's listening to hip-hop, and influenced by the 90's Melbourne party scene, Justin decided to buy some of those boxes that make the electronic goodness we've all become accustomed to. Realising how impractical it was to try and travel with such bulky and heavy gear he moved over to a laptop for production, combining it with a highly portable analogue synth and a Pseudo Echo style keytar in order to retain some of the sound and performance features that only hardware can provide.
His bass shaking tunes have been heard all across the land, with live shows as far north as Darwin and as far south as Tasmania. He has been booked for some of the biggest dance festivals in the country, including Adventjah and Exodus, and has performed alongside such artists as Bassnectar, Kid Kay Ferris and Sub Bass Snarl. He recently blew people away with his live antics at the Intrinsic night in Canberra and has had hour long live sets on Triple J's ‘The Club' twice. Justin has collaborated with artists around the nation including Blastcorp (NT), Ande Foster (Soundhive, QLD) and Alien Digit (ACT).
Justin currently works as a sound designer for a computer games company but still finds the time to play regular shows so be sure to catch some of his floor rumbling tunes next time he's in your area!
