Black Myspace Layouts in plain myspace layoutsLatin Jazz on Montiel’s concept becames “Latin-American Jazz” by the presence of rhythms from his “Mother Land” and from his “Continent”.Bassist, arranger, singer and song writer,; José Luis Motiel started play guitar and the “tres Cubano” at 8 years old in Mexico City where he was born. In 1986 he was invited by the important Mexican pianist Irving Lara to participate in his orchestra "La Quemazón". This work beside Lara was very important in the José’s professional career as musician, Irving Lara in Mexico represents an important musical school, when we talk about Latin Music and Jazz. With this orchestra he had the opportunity to accompanied a famous artists as: Celia Cruz, David Byrne, Mark Anthony, Tania Libertad, Gualberto Castro and others. He remains in this group for 10 years. He participated to some internationals festivals: FRANCE: Grenoble Jazz Festival, France, (playing with the famous saxophonist Chico Freeman), Maison de l’Amérique Latine and three editions of The day of music in Paris. GERMANY: Minden Jazz Summer Nigth, Jazz an der Donau, Best of Music, Pallatina Jazz. BELGIUM: Gentse Festeen, Brussels Jazz Maharathon (three editions). SPAIN: Expo-Sevilla 92. FINLAND: Espoo 2002. HOLAND: 17 Music Meeting. ITALY: Festival Latino-Américando, Musica delle Radici, Festival Pianeta Terra, Jazz on the Coast, Estate Spolentina. LUXEMBURG: Une Saison au cap Ettelbruck. MEXICO: Festival International Cervantino (five editions), Festival Vallesano, Festival de la Ciudad de Mexico, Festival del Caribe. In this festivals he alternated with musicians like: Paco de Lucía, Herbie Hancock, Abdullah Ibrahim, Minino Garay and others.Today he lives in Brussels and Italy. He is the mind behind the musical concept of “Te’Ome”; a band that fuses Mexican music with strong African “roots” and other styles such as: jazz, contemporary music, rap, funk and other Latin American rhythms. In 2004 he produced the CD of the Mexican singer Silvia Abalos called: Cuanto del otro hay en mí. . . Soon, his first album as a bassist will be released. In 2003, Montiel’s music was presented on Belgium television at “L’odyssée du Voluntariat produced by Georges Drouet, a French producer and close friend. Actually he work’s in several projects like bassist and Musical Director. . ...
