DANA MAC
Dana’s musical career has spanned over 22 years. Most of which she spent sharing the stage with her brother Clay Mac. Dana began singing at country dances around Albuquerque when she was only 6 years old. She sang with some of her favorite local heroes, Elton Travis and Curly Snow.
Both Dana’s parents and her four brothers and sisters sing and play , so music has always been a big part of her life.
Her father was raised on a ranch Southwest of Grants in the Malpies, and her mother was raised in Magdalena. Dana and her brothers and sisters spent every summer and holidays on working ranches as (free) hired help.
Her father was a cattle inspector and her mother worked for the Cattle Sanitary Board, which later became the NM Livestock Board.
Her formal music education began at the age of seven. She had violin lessons from the second grade through high school. After graduation, at the age of seventeen, she began singing with the Clay Mac Band while attending NM State University in Las Cruces.
During her career Dana has traveled extensively in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. Her singing career has also taken her to Idaho, Wyoming, California and Tennessee. A couple of the most enjoyable engagements were, Las Vegas, Nevada at the Union Plaza for an eight week stint, and the Houston Astro Dome for the World Bar -B- Que Cook-off.
Her career also includes numerous concerts and shows with over forty of country music’s biggest stars. Either as a back-up band or as a warm-up act.
Other aspects of Dana’s career include TV and Radio Shows. Two of the TV shows were in Texas. One was the TNT show in El Paso, and another was the Cactus Pryor show in Austin, Texas. Also, while in Texas she performed on the live radio show Catch a Rising Star from Billy Bob’s in Forth Worth, Texas. Dana currently has a radio show on KOTS radio on Wednesday nights. It is broadcast live on the web and on a loop all week long.
Dana’s recording career includes two singles released nationally from the album, “The Clay Mac Band“, which received reviews in Bill Board Magazine as an album pick of the week.
