B.A.S.

About Me

Born in the garages of The Blessings out of shere genius, imagination, and lots of pot smoking Bad Ass Shit (B.A.S.) formed in the year of 2003? Starting out as the trio B.A.S. (Ben, Alex, and Steve) had a short lived but epic adventure as a band landing its first gig at St. Francis Church in Vista in May 2003. Followed by winning 3rd place at the Oceanside Talent Search at the Star Theatre downtown, winning $50, our first paying gig. Proceeding to advance the sounds of B.A.S. the trio decided to bring in a Saxamaphone player from the El Camino Jazz band by the name Evan. This quartet played at Squid Joe's, M3 cafe, as well as The Scene (SD). Feeling a need to establish themselves in the music scene, B.A.S. hooked up with a singer for a short period, thanks to Ras Charles, by the name of Jeffy. Going off on a reggae tangent with the new singer the band felt the need for a name change. Several possible names included the Butthole Skaters, Rage Aganst the Ovaltine, and Benny and the Jets. But it was one afternoon in Shnutz's (Alex) room where some serious smoking was going on and Reid Johnson came up with the name Irieside. it was without a doubt to become the name and they still perform as Irieside today. Irieside lost their singer and saxamaphone who were replaced with hip hop rhymes (emcee Anthon) and a pair of horns trumpet and Trombone (Arjay and Tommy) as well as new punk drummer who we had to chop and screw up (Sid Screw).
