Robby was selected by nationally syndicated Radio Station KZRX -"Z-Rock", to join the "Z-Rock Killing Crew", accompanied by vocalist ,Jack Lazor (Chicago), drummer, Bobby Gromily(Boston) and bassist Chris Connely(Phx.). Z-Rock, was a high energy act that that was based out of Phx. AZ. KZRX Z-Rock funding was losing ground and they eventually went belly up. So Robby moved to L.A.,,,,.
In L.A. becomes friends with "Razor" Ray DeCarlo, DJ from the legendary metal station KNAC. Robby plays live on Razors shifts and Razor dubbs Robby "'Shred Master General", . Robby won the L.A. HotShot Guitar competition in 1993, and in early 1994 was hand-picked by "Judas Priest" vocalist Rob Halford to play lead guitar for his band "'Fight". Within five days, no audition, no rehearsal…Robby joins Fight's "War of Words" world tour. This was the result of Razor's suggestion to Robby that he send a package to Halford's E.M.A.S. one year earlier.
Soon Robby began to play in some L.A. based bands encluding a popular L.A. band - "'Treason"' , . featuring Glenn Noize (everyone) on drums, and Magic Moreno (Phil Collins, Barbara Streisand, David Lee Roth, Steve Vai, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Eric Clapton) vocals/keys.These were the final days of the popular L.A. band.
Robby records his first solo release in 1996 . The self titled "Robby Lochner" is released in 1997 and features Barry Sparks on Bass (MSG, Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli Roth, Vinnie Moore, Ted Nugent), and an assortment of Vocal talent, including Neil Turbin (Anthrax).Recently Robby found a box of 40 CD's and put them for sale available only at DigJelly shows.As of last count there is 8 CD's left. The cd which is out of print (5000 copies)mostly sold in foreign countries.The U.K.,Germany and Romania were the biggest buyers for the disc.
In 1996, Robby won MSI's International Guitar Competition, and followed that in 1997 by winning the L.A. Music Award's Best Guitarist competition, where Robby performed with Alex Ligertwood ( Carlos Santana/vocalist), Spencer Davis, and Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Beck, Bogart,Rod Stewart, Edgar Winter, Blue Murder).
In late 1997, Robby and Bernie Corigan founded "Gillian's Crush" (see Gillianscrush.com).Bernie has worked with Goergio Moroder,David Foster,Babyface,Ben Moody(Evanessence)to name a few. They teamed up with producer Curt Cuomo (Eddie Money, ) and Larry Lee (nobody) and produced a 10 song CD. During this time, Robby demo'd for Eddie Money, while Eddie was preparing the Ever Ready Eddie release.
Robby has a 2nd solo record which is now out!It is available at all DigJelly shows and on CD baby..Robby did all the producing,writing ,singing,guitar playing and recording in his own studio and had Evan Rodniche (Cage 9,Powerman 5000) mix. Robby currently lives in the O.C. with his girlfriend Jessica Fox. They converted a 3 car garage into a studio where all the latest DigJelly and Robby solo material is recorded.
