Women's Choice Clinic

The Women's Choice Clinic was founded on October 5 1972, when abortion was still illegal and pregnancy tests were only done in doctors' offices. 6 women in Los Angeles wanted to take control of women's reproductive processes out of the hands of doctors and give it back to the women. They obtained pregnancy test chemicals and taught women how to conduct the tests in the clinic. Since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, we have been providing safe and affordable abortion services. In 1988, Women's Choice Clinic was incorporated into the West Coast Feminist Health Project, a collective of six abortion clinics throughout California. The other clinics have since closed due to anti-choice activity and lack of funding. We are the lone surviving clinic of the six, and have been able to endure because of the pro-choice community on whose support we rely. We provide and assortment of gynecological and mens health services in a warm environment including; Medical/surgical abortion, drop in pregnancy services and tests, STD testing and counceling, birth control services, annual pap smears, pelvic and breast exams, premenstrual syndrome help.
