CashboX was formed in December of 2006 by drummer Michael Murphy and bass guitarist Jeremy Payne. Michael and Jeremy practiced every free moment they had, aside from work. They soon realized that they had a very close musical connection. They also realized that they had the same dream, and that was making music. Somewhat discouraged after looking for a lead singer and guitarist for some time, Jeremy said to Michael "If we don't find someone within the next year, it's just not going to happen." Michael recalls responding "Just be patient, the right ones will come." The following month, Michael's brother Andrew Brannon, who had a background filled with gospel/country music roots, stumbled into the mix. With a little hard work and determination, he found his true sound. This reassured Jeremy, who was playing guitar at the time, and Michael. A few months passed as just the three of them continued to jam and write music. All the while, they were still looking for the right person to guide them on guitar. At some point, Andrew mentioned a long time friend and high school classmate, Tyler Chambers. After just a few practices, Michael and the rest of the band knew that Tyler was just what they where looking for. With the four of them putting in many long hours of practice, they now had CashboX running like a machine. They hit the local scene with a vengance, saving every penny that they made off of shows with plans of sinking that money into an album. Finally in the Spring of 2008 they hit the studio to record a demo that featured the songs "Iron Mountain Train" and "Sorry", which are part of the upcoming album entitled "Iron Mountain Train". They received a tremendous response from these songs. While still writing music, CashboX is continuing to play shows and expand their boundries, playing shows from North Arkansas to Louisiana in promotion of their album. With all that being said, CashboX is just four humble southern boys with the same goals and dreams- to leave their mark on the music industry and continue to play and record more and more music.
Recently, CashboX was invited to participate in a compilation CD called Rock 4 Life by Quickstar Productions. This compilation CD is going to be used to showcase a sampling from everything rock music has to offer, pulling from soft rock, country, pop punk, alternative, indie, progressive, punk, and more. The inspiration for this CD came from Kevin O'Hara. Kevin is a drummer from Northwest Indiana who was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) at the age of 18. This disease causes the liver to shut down and currently the only cure is a liver transplant. It is in his honor and to help others in the same situation by donating proceeds from the Rock 4 Life comp to the PSC Partners Seeking a Cure. PSC Partners Seeking a Cure is a foundation that endeavors to find a cure and treatment for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. The bands featured on the compilation CD will get great exposure for a good cause and the money raised will help those like Kevin who are awaiting the uncertainty of a liver transplant. This is a win-win situation.
The compilation will be sold by all of the bands on the CD and will also be distributed digitally in more than 300 mp3 retailers worldwide. This includes all of the big stores you’re used to like iTunes, Napster, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Vcast, plus a number of other stores.Quickstar Productions will also send out promotional copies to various contacts at record labels (Vagrant, Victory, and Drive-Thru to name a few), Internet and college radio stations, and management firms.
