About Me

Layout made by

Hi! I live in Memphis, work at the Med, teach Taekwondo in the evenings and read, cook with and enjoy the incredible relationship I have with my girlfriend Jackie and get together with my two sons, Tim and BJ as often as time permits. They also teach Taekwondo. BJ in West Memphis, and Tim with me in Memphis. My boys have been after me to get on MySpace for a while so I thought I'd sign up. So, hello to all of you out there! I'm looking forward to some interesting conversation. - Jack

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People interested in Martial Arts both unarmed training and weaponry practice. People with interesting points of view about just about everything from politics to religion to "things of interest". Art, theatre, movies, motorcycles, traveling. I love things Star Trekky and read Frank Herbert, the Wheel of Time series, Fire and Ice and all other tales of similar stripe. You query, I usually have an opinion.

The first time.

A question that comes up frequently deals with the first time you have to defend yourself and you attempt to use Taekwondo techniques:  How do you know what to do?  (I'm afraid I may hurt so...

about pain and hapkido

I had the pleasure of meeting Master Hee Yung Kim at Master Lee's Camp Eagle. It was about 1976, I believe.  Master Kim was our guest clinician for cross training in Hapkido.  Master Kim as...

Things that happened to me in Taekwondo study.

My first instructor, John Watson, told me that I should not worry about when to block, what strike to use, or even what strategy I should apply when free sparring.  He said that one day it would ...
