Green Media Toolshed is a growing online community of 172 environmental organizations working to move their issues and stories through the media to their target audiences. By accessing shared communications tools through a central online hub, GMT members benefit from each other’s work, expertise, and lessons-learned.
GMT tools give members the ability to improve interaction with the press through a comprehensive online media contact manager and through web tools that help build solid relationships with reporters. GMT’s tools also feature customizable online sites, including public press rooms and password protected campaign rooms, to assist members in their work with reporters as well as with coalition members and partner groups. Additionally, GMT features include a gallery of thousands of photos and an extensive media training library.
Since our launch in May 2000, GMT has provided services and training for nearly 3,000 individuals working on communications and outreach. We’ve had the benefit to learn from each of our member organizations and have incorporated their suggestions and feedback into our feature enhancements and service upgrades. GMT is dedicated to helping each of our groups develop their skill set to improve their work. Our website offers extensive media training content, compiled by experts as well as the GMT staff. We monitor recent trends in technology and offer advice about communication and outreach strategy through our monthly e-newsletter. We are further committed to engaging our members in an active online community where member organizations can share success stories and tips with each other. GMT’s intensive membership services program offers inclusive training and unlimited support for all of our tools.
