The Australian surfboard industry is starting to feel enormous pressure from international markets. Mass production by Chinese manufacturers is resulting in an increasing number of overseas made boards on the racks of many prominent Australian surf shops.

In December 2006 Maling Custom Surfboards was created. Handcrafted surfboards made for pleasure, not profit.
Boards are 100% handmade using Australian made materials.
