If you were to die today (don't stop reading cuase you see question this, i know how most people are, haha) and God asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would you say? I know a lot of people don't believe in God, but seriously, what if? I can say i don't believe in gravity, yet it still keeps me pinned to this earth; you can say you don't believe in God but if He's there, he's there no matter who says so or not. So take a second and think about what you would say.
Most people say they think they're a good person, but when you take a look at God's perfect standards (he's God so He, according to the Bible, sets his standards pretty darn high), He says that anyone that's lied, used God's name in vain, put anything before God, looked with lust, or hated in their heart without a cause (i'm basically talking about the ten commandments here), has commited a sin directly toward God. These sins, even if a command has only been broken once, are what condemns us to hell. Since I have lied, looked with lust and taken God's name plenty of times (i've also broken every other commanment) it puts me on par with the same kind of sins as society's worst criminals. So what seperates me for the people that are imprisoned from murder? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. In God's eyes, we are both equally horrible and any good deed we have tried to do are like filthy rags in the sight of God
So if there's nothing different between me and convicted murderers, rapists, and any other fellons, what's going to happen to us on judgment day? Well, every person, whether a fellon or the nicest person around, will have to face God when he dies and stands before God. God is the eternal judge who judges the soul, and to those who are not right with God, he will cast them out of his presence into a place called hell. It's eternity without God. However, what I know and amy hoping you also know is that God doesnt want this to happen. He sent is son Jesus Christ to die for us and in doing so, Christ took the punshiment of all man kind's sins and it is only through him that a person can be forgiven of sins and be presented clean in the sight of God.
You see, it's like this, if God's the judge that determines where i go for eternity, he's basically going to judge me the same way a judge here on earth will. Since i'm guilty of tons of sins, God is going to either say i can pay the fine myself (eternity in hell) or i can allow Jesus Christ to pay my sin for me. You see, it's not hoping, but it's knowing that Christ has paid my debt for me so that i can walk free on that day of judgement. It is my sincere hope that you might also know Christ and if you are unsure of anything at all talk to me please. Could be the best thing that's ever happened to you.
