About Me

Get Myspace Layouts @ CodeMyLayout.comDan stepped into the creative world of music at the age of 13 where he first picked up a pair of drumsticks and made a big noise. 14 years on he's still trying to make a big noise but this time with his singing and song writing. It's still early days! After seeing some very talented local musicians, Dan caught the bug and decided he would have a go at learning guitar. He didn't even consider singing or songwriting. He was happy playing along to his Richard Ashcroft Albums. After pairing up with a talented guitarist who opened his eyes even more to the acoustic, folk and americana genre of music, Dan started to write songs and try his hand at singing. When the response he was expecting was to "stick to drumming", he was suprised when the feedback was quite positive and this only spurred him on to keep going.Drawing on influences from Ryan Adams, Tom Baxter, Richard Ashcroft, Ray Lamontagne, Dave Mathews and Damien Rice, Dan is always looking to improve and admits that when he see's other talented musicians on the circuit, it inspires him to keep improving. Focusing on creating songs that are strong even when performed solo, Dan keeps the writing process organic, letting it just happen yet equally trying to ensure all the peices such as the melody, the hook, the lyrics, the vocal performance and the emotion all fit into place. But it's not easy.In June 07 Dan met the very talented Jun Mori who added piano to some of his songs adding yet another layer of texture.Dan keeps his feet on the ground maintaining that he is just a bloke who is having a go and is simply enjoying the journey. He wants to keep very "open, honest and true" with a light hearted approach and so writes about his experiences as a small musician in a big world and wants to use myspace to give a true reflection of his thoughts and experiences rather than use it as merely a marketing tool which he feels seems a little distant.
