Band Members: The Descent is Anne-Paule S and Mathieu Klein. They both compose music, write lyrics, sing and play all the instruments, and they were both originally bassists, which created the particular low and deep sound of their songs.The band was formed in 2005. The first sessions gave birth to ‘Vanity’, included in the first album, and ‘Dreadful Days’, yet unavailable.CONCEPT : ‘Just when you think it couldn’t get worse, it usually does’. This could sum up the music of the band : desperate songs about self harming, crimes of passion and suffocation.
Influences: JOY DIVISION/ THE CURE/ NIN/ FAITH AND THE MUSE The Descent is looking back to the early eighties cold wave and goth bands, and looking ahead to industrial rock metal and electro. Weird litterature from the late nineteenth century and disturbed movies like ‘Hellraiser’ or ‘Eraserhead’ highly influenced their music.
