I'm a Ph.D. student at NYU in the Dept. of Philosophy. I transfered from the Ph.D. program at Berkeley, thereby switching coasts for the fourth time. I'm also going to go to law school.I love pirate jokes, bull-fighting, and blackmarket Cambodian hand-grenades. I'm an ex-vegetarian, but I ate fish since they can't cry because they're underwater. My 'desert island food' is sashimi, which is actually sort of realistic. I think the people who call me about my student loans have read Kafka too many times. I'm tall and I sometimes act like Big. I'm not a player, I just crush a lot. I have a newfound appreciation for puppies. In Australia I took a bus 17 hours to find a tattoo artist named Bunga at a place called Sharkie's, but then backed out in the chair. I am not a moral relativist, but I am relatively moral. I studied chaos theory but I keep my room extremely neat. I believe in a strong form of epistemic modesty, but I believe in the synthetic a priori. I'm more ambitious than it seems, I just take a long view of things. Speech is my hammer, bang the world into shape.---Philosophy is a wonderful subject but it does not make a human life. Philosophy is too spare and exacting for single-minded devotion. There is something heartless about it and withering too. Too much of it is not good for a person. -Colin McGinn
