Commonly referred to as the "Graveyard of the Atlantic," ship wrecks were a common occurence along the coast of North Carolina during the colonial period. When these wrecks would occur, villagers in the Outer Banks of the state would loot the ships, taking all of the rum and other goods. They would hide this rum in the dunes along the beach. Legend has it that the rum was so strong it could kill the devil. This caused those dunes that would later be the site of the Wright Brothers' first flight to be known as Kill Devil Hills. With the name KillDevil, the members of this band not only pay homage to their home state, but also aim, like this fable, for their message and music to be so strong that it could, metaphorically speaking, kill the Devil.
The majority of the band grew up in the tiny town of Leland, NC, directly across the cape fear river from Wilmington. When these five guys came together as a band in late 2007, they decided they were tired of hearing the same exact cliche music from every band that came out. As the band grew and their music matured, they decided not to waste ther time with the labels and gimmics and take it back to their roots with some good old straight Rock N Roll. Despite their obviously Southern inspired riffs, driving drum beats, and raw rock vocals, the band still reflects influence from all over the music spectrum and have managed to keep an original sound.
**December 2008- KillDevil had a good run from late 2007 to late 2008. The band suffered with some member changes but recovered promptly... Months later the band found itself again shedding some important members... Still pushing, the current members began to write new material.
