About Me

WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL EPHECT MUSIC MYSPACE PAGE.......
Born April 4, 1981, a time when his favorite genre of music was just emerging and it was ripe and new, Ephect (thats effect!) was destined to make his mark on the Midwest music circuit. Raised on the eastside of Indianapolis, IN and graduating from Broad Ripple High School in 1999, the arts mecca of the city, Ephect was well on his way by the impressionable age of eighteen.
If you were a child of the 1980’s it would be almost impossible not to acknowledge the impact that Rap and Hip Hop music had on this generation. Ephect is certainly no exception. Always a lover of arts, he gravitated towards all facets to include graphics (where he later earned a college diploma) and music (where he later launched his own production company). His love for music, especially hip hop and rap became more relevant in 1995 when Ephect began writing lyrics. He later began crafting beats in 1996. Realizing that his talent was a gift that was not shared by the majority, he began taking his talents seriously and started his first production company in 1999, “317 Enterprises". Under this company Ephect was able to release “Keepin’ it Hype Sampler” and “The Midwest Project Compilation.” During this time he was able to collaborate with and produce other local talents to include Benit (now known as Deific), L. Evectus (now known as Son of Thought), Shorty B (now known as Sho-7), Tre-Sixxx, Dos Ill and MVL.
Later on Ephect went on to create a new production company in 2003 named, “New Method Productions.” The company was registered as an LLC in 2004…now it was official; New Method Productions, LLC was going to be HUGE. Now Ephect just needed a project to launch this company as a producer, not an artist. Ephect met NRG (also known as Koz) in 2001 and it became evident that the two had a dynamic working relationship. Ephect released NRG’s album “The Shadow” in October 2005. Ephect was a featured artist on this album in addition to being named the Executive Producer. This was the first project release for New Method Productions, LLC. For every Koz, their lies an Ephect…what lied ahead would be no exception. Ephect hit the studying and began to work hard on his album “Facing the Truth”.
Ephect released “Bring it Back” single in mid 2006 with over 200 copies passed out locally. Ephect linked up with Jay Pul & Kwam Doe (former members of the legendary Kach-22) known as the Game-A-Crats around November 2006. He later went on to re-make & host the group’s mix tape "Remakes 4 Cake Vol. 1". He then released “Promo Mix” mix tape (which included tracks from Ephect and NRG) in December 2006 with over 500 copies passed out locally. Then Ephect and the Game-A-Crats did it again with "Remakes 4 Cake Vol. 2" (a double-disc mixtape). Impressed with the response on the local scene he went on to release “Singles” which included “Bring it Back,” “That’s the Deal” and “All Night Long” from his upcoming album in Febuary 2007 and distributed over 1000 copies locally. This promotional distribution “hustle” caught the attention of a local host, DJ Optimo (who was hosting Live Hip Hop nights at Indianapolis’ Spin Night Club). DJ Optimo booked Ephect for his first show since launching New Method Productions, LLC. on February 8, 2007 at Spin.
“Facing the Truth", Ephect’s first solo album was released in April 2007 to the public and still climbing to reach the top. Several bookings followed. “Facing the Truth” was facing plenty of local success. Pleased with the reception, Ephect got bit by the production-bug and decided that it was time to reconnect with artists from his past. Ephect produced and was a featured artist on local R&B/Pop singer MVL’s single, “Everything You’re Not,” recorded in April 2007. The success of this song landed the two at the 4th annual Slamology Car Show and Music Festival on June 24, 2007. Every show that MVL has been booked for has included Ephect’s feature and has become a crowd pleaser! Seems as though Ephect can cross genres and still have that “ephect” on the masses!.
After performing various times at Spin Night Club in Indianapolis, Ephect recieved a call one Sunday from the owner and was given the oppurtunity to put together and host a show. Without a doubt, Ephect took the offer and put together New Method Productions first event and called it "PIECES OF THE PUZZLE". After making calls and contacting local artists, the flyer was put together and he started grinding it out. Thursday, September 13, 2007 was a success for PIECES OF THE PUZZLE with over 300 people in the building, which was the best turn out for the club in months. After this show, Ephect and New Method Productions was giving the oppurtunity to host more shows:
SEPTEMBER 13, 2007 -PIECES of the PUZZLE -hosted by EPHECT & JAY PUL
OCTOBER 18, 2007 -PIECES 2 the PUZZLE -hosted by EPHECT & JAY PUL
OCTOBER 31, 2007 -A NIGHTMARE ON GUILFORD -hosted by MVL & EPHECT
DECEMBER 13, 2007 -LOCK IT DOWN -hosted by EPHECT
and more to come...
Ephect is a lyrist, he may not write and rap about what you want to hear because he does not fabricate when he writes. You had better be prepared to take full ownership over what you write about, you’d better be willing to live and die by your lyrics, Ephect doesn’t write and rhyme about things he’s not experienced personally, that would be dishonest…something that Ephect is simply not! He is an honest, hard working rapper who is often under estimated for being the silent observer. His work speaks volumes so he doesn’t have to say a word, that’s the “ephect” he has on the industry.
His thoughts, emotions and feelings are raw and real. Passion, aggression and life’s lessons is what drives this rapper to continue on his path to greatness. He is not just a rapper; he is a well respected producer and friend on the Midwest scene. Simply listen to the lyrics of this passionate artist, let him take you on a lyrical journey through his eyes. Allow yourself to feel what he’s feeling, breathe his air and walk in his shoes. Each brutally honest track will reaffirm what many already know, Ephect will never stop “facing the truth.”
