About Me

BIOGRAPHY
Federico Zig formed the band My Juliette and released single Wishes produced by G. Raphael (The Strokes) in 2004. Their debut EP 'Crying Ocean' is unleashed in december 2006 (Pink Onion Records) loaded with romantic glamour and featuring special guest appearances. The dreamy and eclectic repertoire reflects Zig's observation on the low lifestyle in london and captures the memory of those times when he left his country under the state of social anarchy. Death, Love and faith are also present subjects in My Juliette's obscure sound.

PRESS
"This record is as magical and natural as gypsy music and secret gigs in the woods, guitar like little reflections of light on leaves and bathing in the sun, some careless little opiate reverie, some sultry little folk song all melancholic made decadent… It’s euphoria cut up like cake or coke into a careful rhyme scheme.
"It’s also quite sensual because of the saxophone and gently caressing continental voice that sings of dying and running away, and some girl called Sophie. It makes me want to dance. That bit ‘take me for a ride, be my dirty little star…’ – it resonates, and I don’t know why.
"It can be like cigarette smoke tinged pink with rose-tinted glasses. (Actually I just bought some new pink aviators so that much is true…) They’re all pretty, pretty songs, all perfect for a walk in the park. You should take the tunes with you to Primrose Hill.
"‘Take me to a magic place’ he sings, like Gogol Bordello on Opium, a place so magical in fact that I’m inspired to make a new cocktail named after the band: My Juliet… It’s white wine poured over a handful of raspberries and strawberries, with some pink grapefruit juice. Opium extract is optional. It’s really pretty. It looks like pink smoke in water. Just like the band." ROCKFEEDBACK.COM .
"Federico Zig is from argentina but now lives in london and this the first ep by his band My Juliette sums up his experiences in this nutter city of ours. if you like the Velvets, Sonic Youth, Andy Warhol and The Libertines amongst others, then this cd/ep may just be for you." ROUGHTRADE RECORDS .
"I's eclectic, obscure, edgy, dreamy, haunting, passionate, rockin' and supremely melodic. Don't listen to these songs more than three times or you'll become addicted PINKONION RECORDS .
"Like a heroin-addled Nico meeting Jane’s Addiction to collaborate on a ska tune. The rakish vocals perfectly complement the laissez-faire musicality, suggesting it was recorded on downers with not a care in the world. Highly recommended". NEW-NOISE.NET .
"Federico Zig is an Argentinian moved to London in 2000 at 19 years of age, hoping to let loose his artistic and musical talents in the 'old smoke’.
"His band 'My Juliette’ is the result with an EP release called 'Crying Ocean’. I personally would have used the name 'Zig’ or 'The Zig’ but his choice probably reveals more of his dreamy, sensitive nature which comes through on the EP. Pleasant listening it is too with the white reggae based 'My Wings’, the Jeff Buckley style 'Ghost Song’, electric guitar riffed 'Crying Ocean’, indeed all 6 tracks have an endearing quality.
"Some of the melodics remind me of early Aztec Camera in their delicacy; dreamy is a good word for Zig. The only problem is the accent which sounds like too many mock Italian or French cover bands singing English. It can be sweet at first but then it starts to irritate. For any success this side of the water, a few lessons with the Duchess of Kent would be appreciated.
"On the Pink Onion record label, which linked to Rough Trade is a good enough guarantee for validity, inspires to check out Zig (yes I like saying that word) on www.myjuliette.org for download links and to be impressed." MUSIC-NEWS.COM .
"Obscure, romantic and eclectic glam rock songs played in a decadent theatre of mad characters. London's bohemian and poetic contingent teamed up for this 'Crying Ocean' EP.
"Today My Juliette unleash their first EP ‘Crying Ocean’ which is available through Pink Onion Records, a brand new label which previously got involved with the release of books and Hollywood movies. The band is formed by Federico Zig (vocals/guitar), Oliver D. Loveless (bass), Steve Brookes (drums) and also joined onstage by Lucie (keyboards) and singer Milla Gems. The result is a powerful alchemy somewhere between the Sex Pistols and The Velvet Underground.
"The Crying Ocean EP is a subtle but intense record loaded with baroque eclecticism. It goes through post-punk to folk melodrama flirting with reggae and jamming escapades along the way. Its lyrics bring back a slightly obscure and raw world that would please literature lovers in the likes of Dickens, Byron, or Baudelaire.
"In addition to this the EP has been produced in Gordon Raphael’s studio and mastered by Graeme Duran who is widely reputed for working with Bjork, Sigur Ros, and many more.
"My Juliette has gathered along the way a committed group of followers and set its name as on of the most unpredictable and original live acts in the new coming London music Scene." CDBABY.COM .
"From the slow, deliberate and funky syncopated beats of 'My Wings' with added guitar grit, to the cool, chilled meandering of 'Crying Ocean', My Juliette's sound evokes the colourful reveries of Sonic Youth and fine British trippy soundsmiths in the same vein.
"'My Wings' soothes you into My Juliette's cool sound with some breezy ska beats and a loping rhythm, it's followed by, 'Ghosty Song' a driven indie number packed with moments of inspired guitar riffs and a neat solo. Title track, 'Crying Ocean' hardly stands out musically with laidback riffs making it one that simply passes over you like a glassy ocean, but it's a smart tune that charms in an understated way.
"'The Devil You Know' is a hypnotic highlight, a beautiful tune that sees honest vocals entwined with discordant and melancholy guitar chords in an enchanting melody that moves into a rocky chorus. Perhaps it could have been produced by The Libertines if Pete Doherty's head wasn't so filled with narcotics.
"'Dirty Star' is laid out and tripped out rock at its finest with moments of rock indulgence flitting through a pretty guitar tune, while 'Sophie Says' continues the blissful, transcendental poetry with some brass licks adding a little bluesy colour to the tune. This is a smooth tune that simply runs its mellifluous course without a care in the world, a real balmy pleasure with no hints of pretension.
"My Juliette are full of promise, this sing-song style is truly delightful and when matched with tense guitarwork, it really lights a spark that's sure to signify a bright future for this band." ROOMTHIRTEEN.COM .

WISHES £ 3.99 PRODUCED BY GORDON RAPHAEL (2004 SINGLE CD/LIMITED EDITION)
"Rockfeedback comrade Mr Gordon Raphael (The Strokes) produced mysterious trio MY JULIETTE's 'Wishes' single. As ever, Mr R's sagacious ear for the rock need not be doubted; this is dark, gaunt, ferocious stuff in the Joy Division mould, dripping with as much desire as perspiration".

CRYIN OCEAN
When I swim the crying ocean
During difficult times
I wonder who would dare say I'm fine
I wonder who would dare say I'm not fine
When I walk the folding streets
And death is by my side
She cries out a piece of advice
And I don't listen to her
Take me down to a magic place
We could dive into another place
Take me down to a magic place
I used to love my shinny ring
I used to live so far away
I used to trust the colorless world
Take me down to a magic place
We could dive into another place
Take me down to a magic place
To a magic place
To a magic place
To a magic place
To a magic place
To a magic place
