The Copenhagen based, Bandapart, is a new voice on the Danish alternative music scene. The collaborative consists of four young musicians who individually have already performed with the likes of Peter Brötzman, Paul Motian, Bill Frisell and Wayne Horvitz.
The debut album, Bandapart (catalog no. ilk103), was released on the independent label,
ILK in April 2005. On this they created a soundscape of dreamy atmosphere and contemplative mystery. A cinematic sound, mixing electronic and acoustic concepts, and interacting between written pieces and free improv. Bandapart are releasing their next album in the summer 2007 on White Out.
The upcoming album was recorded and mixed at studios in both Copenhagen and Sweden, and features musicians from the Danish Royal Philharmony, National Radio Chamber Choir and a solo guest appearance from the avantgarde trompet legend, Herb Robertson (US).
In March Bandapart went on tour in China after invitations to venues and performance halls in Beijing and Shanghai.
In May, Bandapart will perform in the Berlin venues, White Trash Fast Food and Kunstfabrik Schlot.
“Fans of early ECM-era Bill Frisell, Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The Chicago Underground and other Post-Rock ensembles will find much adore in Bandapart†– Cadence Music magazine, New York
